I enjoyed the event, it made me do a lot more PvP because I felt the rewards were worth it. I think the actual rewards were just right... sure people who are hardcore now have everything unlocked, and so they should, but for the casual player they would have been able to unlock a couple of key elusive skills/runes/upgrades that will make their game more enjoyable.
Now, as for the players themselves, the quality of play was terrible. People have no idea what targeting is, concentrating fire, which are the best targets... if I had faction for the number of times people were each fighting a warrior on their own, I'd be faction king!!
Still, in my mind the event was a success... I just hope that at least half the people playing now go and learn the game!! :P

This was the most fun I've had with the game since launch. The only sad thing is I can't go back to playing for the old Faction levels, I've been spoiled. I won't be PVPing seriously again until they bump the Faction up.

One thing that should not be missed about this weekend was the removal of the guild hop penalty - this was a huge bonus as it let people mix and match much easier for GvG.
Without it you were very loath to jump into some friends guild and do GvG due to the penalty to come back. I made 100K myself over the weekend and a decent chunk I got only because of the abilty to jump into another guild friday while my guildmates were sleeping.
The weekend was a good sucess particularly as it was combined with a huge shake-up of the PvP metagame. (ganking was fun on friday as well )

meh
Well, Played some PvP, lured in by the promise of extra faction (whatever that is) didn't see any extra faction as I kept dying.
PvP still sucks for me, and I'm only doing under protest to keep the other guildies happy.

One of the most alluring things I enjoyed in PVPx was the competition that it brought out in the ToPK. Many more guilds got organized and it was much more enjoyable to battle a strong opponent than the random unstrategized and poorly coordinated pugs (not saying i never enjoyed the 200 from flawless victories) ... just saying it was more rewarding to battle tougher teams. I unlocked all weapon upgrades, but 4 bow grips this weekend and gained an extraodinarily large amount of fame in the last 2 days. I had alot of fun and hope Anet puts out some more of these, (and/or ups the 5 faction to 10/15 at least regularly). The major problem I had was trying to fit people in who didn't have the appropriate skills necessary, as mentioned above, for specific builds we wanted to try. Luckily most of my guild has unlocked all skills on their primary accounts, but I guess its back to grinding out a few final skill caps for the remainder.
EDIT *****
I forgot to mention ... I also liked the modifications to the maps. 1vs1 worked out much better in the tombs imo, ganking strickly prohibitted until the Hall .

Close to Perfect
Finally the pace of faction seemed enough to allow a pvp focused player to unlock the skills/runes/items to open up the game.
I think it was much more realistic than the turtle pace it was. If the goal is to allow pve and pvp progression at near even pace, I think they are pretty close.
Keep up the good work Anet!

I ESPECIALLY liked the changes to tombs... all the 1v1 battles made the game much more challenging and I LOVED!!!! an hoh battle I had that was 1v1... and we just went at it back and forth battleing it out and eventually it came down to 1 monk and 1 ghost vs 1 ghost our ghost and monk wooped the other ghost's ass

Faction was Not too high, those of you who think so are in the minority that play the game excessive amounts of hours. I was only able to play for about 4hrs a night (total of around 12 hrs) and averaged around 2k + an hour. (Alot of that time was spent waiting out long battles in GvG or just chatting with guild members.) Lets see for the NON PvE player that plays even 4 hrs a night, How long would it take to unlock everything? For damn ever is how long...lol
Anyway the PvPX weekend made doing arenas much more enjoyable and GvG even more fun. I have never seen 50+ districts in TA before, so everyone was finally atleast trying PvP. The GvG matches were either a Gank build or a totally Noob team. I will agree that their should be another goal in GvG besides the Guild Lord to win. That seems the only way to deter ganks that try and then leave immediately if they fail.
All in all a great weekend, We will see what Anet does as a permenant Faction fix.

Wasn't able to log on, huh?
I don't see how ANYONE could possible reckon that as being anywhere close than the usual 2 faction per kill, 10 per win system.
I call 750-1000 faction quite alot compared to 75-200.

i really like this idea of increased faction. there should as little grind as possible for pvp. i think anyone should be able to go buy then game and with in a month or 2 be able to unlock most of the stuff on the game. i've been doing pvp for the past month and i saved enough faction to get me 2 sup runes. this weekend i unlocked everything that i will ever need. thanx anet for the unique opportunity.
i would suggest doing more extreme weekends instead of a faction increase. it would be like the beta days pvp weekends.

I played a little 4vs4 then moved right to tombs, and even though I had very limited success, I still went from under 1k faction to almost 6k. Also, I increased my fame from 1 to 14. I liked the PvP, but I'm still a PvE'er at heart. I might just visit the tomb a little more often now, though.

Well, I made a PvP character just for the weekend to see what all of this PvP hoopla was about -- it was a blast!
I had so much fun. Of course, I also had a lot of frustration, since the first few characters I built stunk to high heaven, lol. Definitely a learning experience for someone who has only done PvE. I learned it's a lot harder playing an Ele in PvP than PvE!
Only a couple of downers:
I was a little confused about faction, unlocking and accessing those items, so I put in the chat "Can anyone answer a few PvP related questions for me?"...which I thought was a reasonable way to ask a question. I got called a "dumbass" and was told "if you have to ask questions you shouldn't even be here". I mean come on, I just wanted to know how to access unlocked items, lol. He didn't even wait to see what my question was. What a bonehead. Nice sense of "community" -- NOT.
Then my Monk spawned in with a group for random arena and right before the gate opens a guys says something really crude about the color of my skin (it was a brown character) and says something totally crude and gross to me. Well buddy, you can heal yourself -- see ya! That's the only time I ever bailed on a group, I always stay to the last death. I certainly wasn't going to heal that guy!
Anyway sorry to ramble! I just had so much fun, and the faction rewards were great, the battles were great, and except for the couple of downers I mentioned, the sportsmanship and community was great, too.
Well done A-net, and thanks for the good time!

My ranger is brown skinned/grey haired with the ranger armor all dyed green. Looks, imo, quite impressive. He's also the smallest size you can choose for a male.
If people are going to insult you for the color of your character... wow. Sometimes I'm really disappointed in our species.

If anyone makes insulting racial remarks, or even grossly inappropriate sexual comments as a form of insult, screenshot 'em and send a User Agreement Violations report to ANet. I was playing in arena at the end of the PvP X weekend, and when someone called me a "dumb***," I merely said "watch your language," and he promptly ignored me, and swore in all colors of the rainbow, spammed me with pages of varied insults, resorted to extremely crass sexual comments regarding not only me but my family members that would make anyone blanch.. and typed all in caps "I WIN PWNED LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!"
... Too bad I screenshotted it all and send it off to support, no? Sweet irony when he gets banned and finally truly "wins.."
Now, my vindictive side satisfied and back on topic, PvP X weekend (what I could attend, since I was away half the weekend) was a blast simply because instead of having only 1 person on, there were 8-9 people playing in the guild at all times. The surge in activity was staggering, and well, no matter how fun your guild is, you definitely need people in order to do anything even remotely resembling higher level pvp...
I absolutely loved the increased faction, of course, and wish that they'll keep it for the future.

Didn't see anyone mention this, but the updated Spawn points and decreased time for The Crag 4v4 PVP arena is wonderful. That map is so much better than it used to be.

I played PvPX and i thought the faction was great. Skilled players could amass faction, and i could get my skills without grinding that level. I could adapt to what my team needed me to do, And it was helluva fun getting those elites. No More, U SUCK! U dont have any skills and CRAPPY armor. Personally, I would buy every guild wars game and play it for a DAY STRAIGHT like i did in PvPX if they kept the faction. I just love unlocking things and it was a GREAT day for me even tough i couldent get on the first two days. It was a great experience and if Arena net keeps these or makes them a little higher for the random arenas, they can count on me as a Devoted future customer for all

I second that. No more need to camp on your side of the map or running back to the fight from long distances. It's much more enjoyable. So many times had I been in a team that sat there for 4 minutes until sudden death :P
Anyway, PvPx weekend was great! I ended up with 47k faction and I think I started on Friday with 19k. Unlocked almost all the Necro/Mesmer skills and runes but still have a lot more to go. There were a LOT of new people playing pvp though (so many times I needed to say in the random arena to bring a rez sig and to kill that monk first!). I didn't really mind them, but I noticed
Ahem, I think I have been spoiled and call for the faction rewards to permantly increase

PvP "Extreme" Weekend was a step in the right direction. The problem that many will overlook is that the faction we accumulated at a half-decent rate was mainly due to the fact that _everyone_ was out to PvP. If people were less hell bent on accumulating faction as they were this weekend, it would not go so quickly. Especially since the two best ways to get faction were either ganking or anti-ganking.
